2025 saw the launch of the first “Building Tomorrow Together” call for projects by BIL, with the aim of supporting local initiatives that reflected the Bank’s values and had a tangible impact within Luxembourg.

In this report, we met with Kevin Muhlen, director of Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain.

Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain

Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain is a public institution that was founded in 1996 and is dedicated to promoting and displaying contemporary artistic creations. Located in the heart of Luxembourg City, it is now a major player in the country’s cultural scene.

The art centre is open to all and aims to introduce visitors to contemporary art in all its forms – from temporary exhibitions, guided visits and conferences through to concerts, performances and even themed workshops. Its rich and multidisciplinary programme raises public awareness of the diversity, complexity and challenges that contemporary artistic creation entails.

Casino Luxembourg also supports artists in their careers by providing them with a space for experimentation and exposure to both the public and industry professionals, which in turn helps to shine a spotlight on the local and international arts scene.

A hub for people to really come together, the centre welcomes visitors of all ages to its exhibition spaces. But that’s not all: it also features a specialist library, a bookshop focusing on contemporary art, and an area dedicated to educational activities.

Casino receives a wide variety of visitors. This includes discerning contemporary art enthusiasts who really know their stuff, a professional audience (comprising artists and industry professionals), and a whole host of people who receive our support in relation to awareness raising and education.

InfoLab : Casino Luxembourg’s specialised library

Dedicated to contemporary art, the InfoLab offers a wide selection of monographs on artists from both Luxembourg and abroad, as well as exhibition catalogues and thematic publications on photography, video, sculpture, design and art history.

More than just a consultation area, the InfoLab is a real hub for discussion. It also serves as a conference room and screening space, facilitating interaction between the public and artists during events. The space helps to extend the visitor experience and enrich their exploration of the contemporary art on display at Casino Luxembourg.

Financial support from BIL

Kevin Muhlen and Jeffrey Dentzer

“BIL’s donation has enabled us to redesign the interior of the InfoLab. We felt we needed to rethink the layout of this space – to create something that was not only more open to the public, but more welcoming too. We wanted this ethos of sharing and free access to be reflected more directly through the architecture and interior design.”

The financial support provided to local players is part of BIL’s general sponsorship policy, which aims to support initiatives with a meaningful impact on Luxembourg society. BIL’s commitments in the fields of education, entrepreneurship, culture and sport are testament to the bank’s desire to play its part in driving the country’s dynamic spirit.
