Join Charles Grethen and see what a day in his life looks like while training for Paris.
Meet Luxembourg artist Sandra Lieners and learn more about both her world and her passion for art and sport.
Sandra Lieners is an artist of many talents. A passionate art lover and artist who is well-known both in Luxembourg and around the world, she also practises sport (middle and long-distance running) at a high level.
Full of energy and all smiles, Sandra invites us into her world, where painting, art and sport come together to help her achieve a perfect balance in life.
I’m a better runner because I paint and I’m a better painter because I run.
Trained in classical painting in Florence and then Vienna, Sandra Lieners’s work blends abstract and figurative elements. She combines natural and urban materials while simultaneuously blending together different techniques such as oil painting, cyanotype and sewing.
Her compositions go through different phases of creation, modification, analysis, cutting and assembly, sometimes obtaining results that even the artist herself had not anticipated.
Until the beginning of October 2024, the Luxembourg artist will be exhibiting at BIL’s Galerie L’Indépendance. On display will be the fruit of the work she produced during a three-month artistic residency in Australia alongside creations conceived on her return to the Grand Duchy.
